Bourbon, Whiskey & Rye
Bourbon is what beer wants to be when it grows up
About Us
We Are Bourbon & Whiskey Enthusiasts
Welcome to Bourbon, Whiskey & Rye, a home for readers who want to explore North American whiskey with more depth. We focus on bourbon, rye whiskey, American whiskey, and the people, places, and production methods behind them, with clear explanations, distillery profiles, and practical comparisons that help make sense of the category.
During my whiskey journey I have tasted and rated over 900 whiskeys in my personal tasting journal (available via the Tasting Aids link).
If you want to better understand whiskey terminology, compare bourbon and rye, or learn what makes different distilleries unique, you’re in the right place. We cover topics like what is full proof vs. barrel proof, mash bills, aging, proof, and the history behind the brands and distilleries that shape American whiskey.
Our goal is to build a useful reference for enthusiasts who want more than tasting notes. You’ll find educational guides, distillery history, and lineage details that connect the whiskey in your glass to the people and decisions behind it. We also offer bourbon tasting tools, flavor breakdowns, and distillery insights for serious bourbon drinkers

Our whiskey release data base covers a variety of allocated bottles that require this information, making it easy to determine release dates of your favorite brands.
